Wildcats Continue A-10 Play at Dayton

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson women's soccer team will end a four-game home stand by traveling to Dayton for an Atlantic 10 match 7 p.m. Thursday.Â
The Wildcats are coming off of an 0-1-1 week that saw it tie Duquesne 1-1 on Sept. 14 before suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to St. Bonaventure Sept. 17 both at Alumni Stadium.Â
Davidson, for the first time this season showed its bounce-back abilities against the Dukes as it made its first comeback from a deficit this season on the way to its first draw of 2023.Â
"This is a big week for us as we look to get our first A-10 wins against top league opponents" said head coach Riley Piechnick. "We have shown good moments in conference play so far, but consistency for 90 minutes in both games will be key."Â
The 'Cats enter the week with a 3-5-1 overall record and a 0-1-1 mark in A10 competition. Davidson has not played on the road since Sept. 3 against Campbell where the Camels claimed a 1-0 win. Overall, the Wildcats are 2-2 when traveling to their opponents.Â
The Wildcats' eight goals on the year are composed of five difference players in Aleia Gisolfi McCready (2), Savannah Pruitt (2), Riley Patton (1), Shea Bonacci (1) and SJ Pak (1). Pruitt is the first player on this season's roster to have netted a goal in back-to-back games.Â
Aiding in the offensive efforts are five players to have given an assist including Gisolfi-McCready, Patton, Brooke Ditcham, Phoebe Fowler and Lilly Lovell.Â
Emily Smith, having played every minute of a possible 810, still reigns among the top goalkeepers in the league as she currently ranks second in shutouts (3), fifth in goals against average (0.89), seventh in save percentage (.795) and eighth in saves (31). Smith leads a Davidson defense that has allowed the second lowest amount of goals in the A-10 with just eight and third lowest opponent scoring average of .89.Â
SCOUTING DAYTON
The Flyers hold a 8-0 series advantage over the Wildcats dating back to 2015. The two team's most recent encounters have all been narrow 1-0 losses for the 'Cats.Â
Dayton has compiled a 6-1-3 overall record and 1-0-1 mark in conference matches. The Flyers were slated second in this years Preseason Coaches poll.Â
As a team, Dayton is second in the league in both goals (21) and goals per game (2.1).Â
The Flyers' offense is headed by Noel Blain who is first in the A-10 with five goals and the second most points of 11. Following is Madison Wilson who has nine points on three goals and three assists.Â
Batoul Reda currently ranks as the top goalkeeper in the Atlantic 10 with the leagues leading GAA (0.78), save percentage (.854) and shutouts (4) while being fourth in saves (41). In Davidson and Dayton's most recent match, Batoul earned the 1-0 shutout after making five saves.Â
