Wildcats Fall Short Against George Washington

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson women's soccer team closed out their home schedule with 2-1 loss to George Washington Thursday Night at Alumni Stadium.
The conference loss drops the Wildcats 3-4-2 in Atlantic 10 action and 7-6-3 overall. The win improves 5-8-1 and 2-6-1 in conference play.
The 'Cats were led offensively by Dakota Lyons, who notched her team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 66th minute, cutting the Revolutionaries lead to 2-1. SJ Pak earned her fourth assist of the season on the goal.
Lyons put up five shots, three on target, while Sophia Whiddon, Charlotte Hansen and Reese Montgomery took two shots each. Grace Stair made five saves in net for the Wildcats.
George Washington controlled the tempo for much of the first half, outshooting the 'Cats 6-5 and scoring a 21st minute goal of a corner kick.
The Revs added to their leading the 56th minute on a Kathleen Ngulefac goal, putting the 'Cats in a 2-0 hole. Kalia Kau assisted on both goals for the Revs.
Lyons sparked the 'Cats with her second half goal but could not ignite a rally to tie the game.

The Wildcats wrap up the regular season on the road, traveling to VCU on Sunday, Oct. 25 for a 1:30 p.m. game.
