Wildcats Play George Mason to 1-1 Draw

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Davidson women's soccer team split the points with George Mason after a hard fought 1-1 draw Thursday night at George Mason Stadium.
With the tie, the Wildcats move to 6-5-3 on the season and 2-3-2 in Atlantic 10 play, while George Mason moves ahead in the standings with a 3-3-1 conference record.
Dakota Lyons was the difference maker on offense for the Wildcats as she scored a 23rd minute goal to give Davidson an early lead. The goal marks the fourth for the senior, tying Sophia Whiddon for the team lead. Whiddon was credited with the assist on Lyons' score and leads the team with four assists on the season.
In the second half, the Patriots were able to pull even with Davidson on a quick strike by Rachel Eberly in the 65th minute. The Davidson defense played well for the rest of the game, allowing only two shots on goal for the match.
Lyons led the team with three shots while Charlotte Snead put two shots up for the 'Cats. Snead, SJ Pak, Olivia Bestic and Annaliese Mann played the full 90 minutes for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats return home for two out of the three remaining games this season, beginning on Sunday with a test against La Salle on Sunday at Alumni Stadium. First touch is set for noon.
