
Bryant Edges Wildcats in 11, DH set for Saturday

DAVIDSON — Wildcat hitters knocked four solo home runs Friday afternoon, but Davidson came up short 6-5 in an 11-inning loss to Bryant at Wilson Field.
Davidson is now 6-7, while Bryant improved to 3-7.
Ryan Wilson tied the game at 5-all with a solo home run to lead off the ninth, and his fifth shot of the year tied Jack Cotrone for the team lead. But the Bulldogs got the winning run across in the 11th on an RBI-groundout with the bases loaded.
Cotrone got the Wildcats started Friday with a solo blast in the second inning to make it 1-0, then Jacob Friend went deep in the fifth to make it 2-1. Jacob Hinderleider's shot in the sixth pushed the lead to 3-1, and also in the sixth, Henry Koehler drove in one more with an RBI-single down the left field line.
The Bulldogs tied it at 4-4 in the eighth with a two-run homer by third baseman John Hosmer, a former Wildcat playing his graduate year at Bryant.
Starter Will Schomberg had another strong outing, throwing six innings, allowing one earned run and two hits, and striking out six.

The series continues Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., which will complete the series. With rain in the forecast Sunday, Saturday will now feature a 9-inning game, followed by a 7-inning contest shortly after.
