Davidson Looks for Fifth Straight at Mason Saturday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Riding a four-game win streak, the Davidson women's basketball will look to go for five in a row on Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats take on George Mason in Fairfax, Va. in Atlantic 10 action.

THE SERIES
  • Since joining the league, Davidson is 6-4 all-time against George Mason, having won the last four of the last five meetings against the Patriots.
  • The Wildcats are 2-3 from inside EagleBank Arena, having won 68-42 in the last meeting in Fairfax. In that contest, Davidson scored 17 of the games first 20 points and held the Patriots to a 28.6 percent effort from the floor.
  • Last season, Davidson fell 58-50 to the Patriots for the first time ever inside Belk Arena, despite Elle Sutphin dropping 23 points.
LAST TIME OUT... The Wildcats won their fourth-straight contest on Wednesday in a 75-71 victory over the Saint Louis Billikens. Davidson relied on a 23-18 third quarter, where the 'Cats shot 8-of-10 from the field, to erase a pair of 10-point deficits. Elle Sutphin led the Wildcats with a game-high 25 points, while Suzi-Rose Deegan added 22 and Maddie Plank scored 11. Mallorie Haines added eight points in the fourth quarter including the final two free throws of the game to secure the win.

DEEGAN BY A THOUSAND... Senior guard Suzi-Rose Deegan became the 22nd member of Davidson women's basketball's 1,000-point club on Wednesday night, while dropping a season-best 22 points against the Saint Louis Billikens. The Aussie native has played in 75 career games, averaging 13.4 points per game in her tenure.

MORGAN'S MARK... Sophomore point guard Issy Morgan captured the first Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor of her career on Monday afternoon after leading Davidson to a 2-0 week in league action. The Wildcats' floor general averaged 19.0 points with five rebounds and seven assists across a two-game stretch last week, initially dropping 18 in a road win at VCU before putting up a career-high 20 points in a barn burner against Duquesne. Overall, Morgan shot 60 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent from beyond the arc, including a 4-of-8 effort from deep against Duquesne on Sunday.

THE SURGING SUTPHIN... Elle Sutphin's productivity ranks at the top across all of NCAA Division I women's basketball as the Pilot Mountain native averages 17.4 points per game, which ranks 67th nationally, and is shooting 50.9 percent from the field, ranking in the 90th percentile. The redshirt-junior has recorded five double-doubles this season, the firsts of her career, while scoring two in her last three outings, in addition to eight 20+ point performances this season.

ABOUT THE PATRIOTS... George Mason most recently dropped a thriller to A-10 leader Rhode Island, 57-53, on Wednesday night and sit at 3-5 in league play. Taylor Jameson leads the Patriots with 13.1 points per game and is joined by Sonia Smith in double figures, averaging 10.1 points per game. Mason averages 60.2 points per game as a team and is shooting 36.9 percent from the field this season.
