GREENSBORO — Henry Koehler and Jacob Hinderleider homered as part of a six-run fifth inning Saturday to help the Davidson baseball team get a 9-2 win at UNC Greensboro.
It's the 10th win in the last 11 games for the Wildcats, who improved to 18-4.
In the fifth, Koehler went deep to right field with his third blast of the year, with his three-run shot following singles by Anthony Mase and Michael Carico and making it 4-0. After Ryan Wilson walked, Hinderleider then knocked his third homer of the season, a two-run shot to right. The Wildcats added one more in the inning when John Hosmer reached on an error, allowing Jake Wilhoit to score and making it 7-0.
Davidson's first run Saturday came in the fourth when Wilhoit reached on a two-out error with the bases loaded, allowing Carico to score.
Trevor Candelaria and Tyler Douglas added RBI-singles in the eighth.
Bennett Flynn closed the door from the mound, striking out six and not allowing a hit in the final 2.1 innings.
Blake Hely threw the first 4.1 innings, allowing five hits and striking out three, before handing the reins to Will Schomberg, who recorded the next seven outs.
