Wildcats Slug Five Homers to Win 13-2

DAVIDSON — The Davidson Wildcats belted five home runs Saturday afternoon en route to a 13-2 win over Lafayette at Wilson Field.
Now a program-best 16-3, the Wildcats have won their last eight games.
Michael Carico and Trevor Candelaria hit their team-leading fifth home runs, with Carico's solo shot in the second making it 5-2 and Candelaria's solo blast completing the scoring in the seventh. Candelaria finished the day a single short of the cycle.
After the Leopards scored two runs in the top of the first, Henry Koehler got the Wildcats started by hitting a three-run shot, his second of the year, as part of a four-run bottom half.
Parker Nolan hit his fourth round-tripper in the second, making it 7-2 two batters after Carico went deep. And John Hosmer led off the fifth with a solo shot to left, his first of the year, extending the Wildcat lead to 10-2.
Garrett Browder and Koehler added RBI-singles in the third and sixth, respectively.
Right-hander Blake Hely threw six innings, striking out 10 and allowing five hits and two earned runs, while improving to 3-0. Issac Fix (2 IP, 3 Ks) and Brian Craven (1 IP, 2 Ks) got the Wildcats through the final three frames without surrendering a hit.
