ST. LOUIS — The Davidson baseball team finished on a high note Saturday afternoon, topping Saint Louis 6-3 in the final game of the 2021 season.

The Wildcats won three of four games in the final Atlantic 10 series of the year and finished 27-24 overall and 11-13 in league play.

Trevor Candelaria's RBI-single in the fourth inning scored Garrett Browder and broke a 3-3 tie, and the Wildcats added another run in the inning when Alex Fedje-Johnson scored on a steal play. In the seventh, Jake Wilhoit doubled, advanced to third on a Browder bunt and scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-3.

The Wildcats scored three runs in the first inning, beginning when Ryan Wilson singled in Fedje-Johnson. Ruben Fontes, who went 3-for-5, then singled in Henry Koehler, and Wilson came around on Jacob Hinderleider's fielder's choice. The Billikens answered with three runs in the bottom half, and the game remained tied until the fourth.
