Wildcats Cruise By Ferrum in Exhibition

DAVIDSON — Luka Brajkovic scored a game-high 21 points, Sam Mennenga added a double-double and the Davidson Wildcats rolled past Ferrum 98-56 in an exhibition Wednesday night in Belk Arena.
Brajkovic finished 9-of-13 from the floor, scored 12 of his points after the intermission and pulled down seven rebounds. Mennenga scored 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting in the first half to lead the Wildcats to a 54-27 halftime lead, then finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while shooting 6-of-7 from the floor.
The game was tight early, as the teams played to a 17-17 tie in the first seven minutes. But Davidson went on a 21-2 run, including 14 unanswered points, to take control from there, closing the half with a 37-10 advantage, including another 12 straight points.
Davidson crafted a 23-5 run in the second half, beginning with a Brajkovic dunk at the 12:25 mark. The Wildcats' lead peaked at 96-49 at the end of the spurt, following two Chris Ford free throws, with 2:57 to play.
Davidson shot 60.3 percent from the field (38-of-63), including 61.3 percent (19-of-31) in the first half and held 48-21 and 54-6 advantages in rebounds and points in the paint, respectively. The Wildcats totaled 24 assists to 11 turnovers.
Grant Huffman and new Wildcat Foster Loyer also scored in double figures, with Huffman totaling 13 and Loyer 12. Freshmen Desmond Watson and Ford scored nine and eight points, respectively, and Hyunjung Lee added eight points.
Michael Spraggins scored 18 points to lead Ferrum.
