Davidson Notes
- Coming off a 5-0 win in its regular-season finale, Davidson will play at top-seeded Rhode Island in the opening round of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Tournament Saturday at 7 p.m.
- The winner will advance to the semifinals to face the victor of No. 4 Saint Louis / No. 5 Fordham on Nov. 15 in the Bronx, N.Y.
- The eighth-seeded Wildcats enter 4-10-2 overall record, which includes a 3-5-0 mark in conference play.
- Jamie DiLuzio continues to lead Davidson offensively with four goals and 13 total points, while freshman Justin Stone paces the team with five goals, including two against Duquesne last weekend.
- For his second two-goal performance of the season, Stone was tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week. Fellow forward Lucas Hauth was named Player of the Week as the sophomore also added a pair of scores against the Dukes.
- Six of Davidson's regular-season opponents played in the NCAA Tournament a year ago.
- In addition, 10 of the Wildcats' 16 contests were decided by one goal, while five required overtime to decide.
- Rhode Island and Davidson met two weeks ago with the Rams winning 2-0 in Kingston. After the Wildcats went a man down in the 72nd minute due to a red card, Rhody struck with two goals in the final 10 minutes.
- The Rams' Filippo Tamburini (7G, 3A), Stavros Zarokostas (6G, 5A) and Edvin Akelsen (3G, 10A) rank fifth, sixth and seventh among league leaders in scoring, respectively.
- Since joining the conference six years ago, this marks the third time Davidson has qualified for postseason play. Still in search of their first A-10 Tournament win, the Wildcats lost 4-2 in penalty kicks to George Mason in 2014, while suffering a 2-1 (2OT) loss to Dayton a year ago.
