THE SERIES
Davidson trail the Toreros 2-10 since the first meeting in 2000. The Wildcats last beat San Diego on the road in 2009, 34-27. Two years prior in 2007, the pair squared off in a thrilling 52-49 shootout, won by the host Toreros'. The 'Cats have dropped the last five matchups overall.

#TRENDINGNOW
Davidson senior kicker Trevor Smith's 35-yard field goal in last Saturday's game against Campbell reset the program record for makes at 35. He added a 29-yard kick in the second quarter to sit at 36 career field goals, passing Daniel Hanks '03 with 34. Smith has had his best year kicking, knocking through 12-of-14 attempts and connecting on 21-of-22 point after attempts, both career highs.

LAST TIME OUT
Davidson freshman Wesley Dugger set a season-high with three rushing touchdowns, the first Wildcat to reach the feat since Justin Williams rushed for four in 2007, but the 'Cats fell at home to Campbell, 42-29. Dugger recorded his third 100-yard game of the year, registering 139 yards on 27 carries, earning him honorable mention recognition for the STATS FCS National Freshman of the Week. The 'Cats attempted 100 plays on offense as Tyler Phelps completed 32-of-60 passes for 287 yards, all career-highs. Campbell quarterback Daniel Smith accounted for 445 total yards and five TDs, including 289 yards on the ground. Davidson was led on defense by defensive end Boo Jordan who forced and recovered a fumble and made 8 tackles, 5 of them solo stops.

HONORARY CAPTAIN - WILLIAM MORRIS '16
The honorary captain for this weekend's game at Campbell will be recent graduate, William Morris. Morris left Davidson as one of the most prolific receivers in program history. The Dallas, Texas, native leads the Wildcats all-time in career receptions (237), reception yards (3,200) and holds the single-season reception mark (1,224). Morris was a PFL All-Conference first team selection in 2014 and 2015.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE STAFF
Paul Nichols added four new coaches to the fold, two on each side of the ball. Hank Hughes (Springfield, '79) boasts an impressive resume having worked at the NCAA FBS level for 20 years. He most recently worked as defensive line coach for Nebraska in the Big 10 in 2015. With an extended stay at the University of Connecticut from 2001-13, Hughes helped lead the Huskies to five bowl games and the 2012 team to a ninth place rank in the country in total defense and seventh against the run. Jeff McDaniels (Davidson, '14) returns to his alma as cornerbacks coach. McDaniels comes back after spending two seasons with Texas State University working with offensive skill players and special teams.

On the offensive side, Laymarr Marshall (Duke, '98) will coach the running backs. Marshall spent the last 18 seasons at Mt. Tabor High School where he was head coach since 2008. While at Duke, Marshall earned Academic All-ACC honors in 1995 and was a three-year starter at running back. Tim Zetts (Akron, '09) will serve as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Zetts spent the last two seasons at John Carroll University where he was named interim head coach last season to go with his offensive coordinator duties.
