BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Despite a team-high two-hit performance by Lee Miller, the Davidson baseball team fell to Indiana State, 7-1, Saturday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium on the campus of Campbell University.
Miller led Davidson (7-7) with a 2-for-4 performance, but Hunter Owen was perfect, going 3-for-3, including three RBI, to help Indiana State (9-5) to victory.
The Sycamores got on board thanks to Owen, as he recorded a solo homerun in the first before a RBI double in the third that allowed Indiana State to take a 2-0 lead.
The Wildcats scored in the fifth off two hits and a Indiana State error, but it was not enough as the Sycamores responded with five unanswered runs, including two in the fifth and three in the sixth to secure the win.
Durin O'Linger recorded the loss, allowing four runs off seven hits with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. Four other Wildcats pitched in relief.
Daniel Peterson started the first eighth innings for the win, allowing one run off four hits with 10 strikeouts.
Davidson will return to the field tomorrow, March 13 when it faces Rhode Island for a 11 a.m. first pitch.
