DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson field hockey (2-10) suffered their second shutout of the season, falling 6-0 to No. 2 North Carolina (10-2) Tuesday at Belk Turf Field. The Wildcats' other shutout also came against a ranked opponent in then-No.11 Wake Forest.

UNC was led by a hat trick performance from senior Gab Major, with a trio of fellow seniors scoring the other three goals. The Tar Heels attacked early and often, scoring their first goal in the fifth minute of competition, following up eight minutes later with their second, and continuing the trend, netting three more all within 15 minutes of each other.

The Wildcats seemed to settle UNC in the second half, limiting the 'Heels to six shots, with just one finding the back of the cage.

Sophomore Bean Rodriguez tallied five saves in the first half for the Wildcats, and freshman Sarah Zeszotarski logged the most minutes of her career, playing the entire second half, recording two saves off back-to-back shots.

Davidson concludes its five-game homestand with an Atlantic 10 weekend, welcoming Saint Francis and Lock Haven on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
