WASHINGTON — After posting her first two-goal game against Lock Haven on Friday, Davidson's Ise Adams has been named Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
The honor is the first for Adams, a freshman midfielder from Goirle, Netherlands.
"I'm so proud of Ise," said Davidson coach Zoe Almquist. "She came up huge for the Wildcats this week. We moved her onto the forward line, and she absolutely crushed it, defensively for sure, and on attack she made the selfless leads and passes over and over again. It was icing on the cake to have her score, both in open play and on a corner. We're so lucky she's a Wildcat!"
Adams scored both her goals in a three-minute span early in the second quarter, helping the Wildcats extend their lead to 3-0 in an eventual 7-1 win.
With 12 points this year, Adams is currently tied for third on the team, totaling three goals and six assists.
Adams and the Wildcats will face top-seeded Saint Joseph's Thursday morning in the Atlantic 10 Tournament at VCU.
