THE SERIES
Marist has had their way with the 'Cats since the first meeting in 2008, boasting a 7-1 record all-time. Davidson's lone win came in 2010 in Poughkeepsie, a 28-21 affair.
LAST TIME OUT | Box Score (PDF)
Davidson jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but a late game turnover gave Butler new life as the Bulldogs converted a field goal as time expired to down the 'Cats at Richardson Stadium last Saturday, 20-17. The Wildcats jumped out to a quick lead, launching a 74-yard touchdown toss to junior Cam Cheuvront on their opening play from scrimmage. Cheuvront hauled in five catches for 115 yards, his third 100-yard day and second of the season. McGuire completed 21-of-34 passes for a career-high 273 yards. Senior linebacker Nate Casey returned to the lineup and recorded six tackles, five of them solo stops.
#TRENDINGNOW
For the second time in three weeks, freshman quarterback Stockton McGuire was recognized as a STATS FCS National Freshman of the Week honorable mention. McGuire threw for a career-high 273 yards off 21-of-34 passing and two touchdowns. The Douglasville, Ga., native added his longest career touchdown strike, connecting with junior Cam Cheuvront on a 74-yard scoring play off the first offensive possession for the Wildcats. McGuire previously earned this distinction on Monday, Oct. 3, while classmate, running back Keylan Brown, was recognized on Monday, Sept. 12.
