Davidson Suffers 32-10 Setback to Sacred Heart

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Anthony Elias, Scott Patrick and Ian Solcz all picked up wins at their respective weight classes, but it wasn't enough as Davidson (4-13, 0-4 SoCon) fell to EIWA rival Sacred Heart (1-12, 0-7 EIWA), 32-10 Sunday at John M. Belk Arena.
After a forfeit at 125 lbs., Elias scored a major decision over Sacred Heart's Timothy Johnson at 133 pounds. The senior recorded two takedowns and a three-nearfall in the opening period to hold a 8-1 lead. Elias went on to tally a takedown in each of the next two frames to win, 12-3.
Patrick picked up his sixth consecutive win with a 7-4 decision over Elliot Antler at 184 pounds. The senior recorded three takedowns and an escape to secure the win. Patrick improves to 7-3 overall.
At 197 lbs., Ian Solcz won a hard-fought 8-7 battle against Sasha Oliinyk. Oliinyk held a 6-4 advantage heading into the final period, but back-to-back caution calls and a Soclz escape evened the match at six. A product of Pittsford, N.Y., scored a crucial takedown to secure the match as time expired.
In the final match of the day, Eddie Isola put up a solid fight. The Maitland, Fla., native went to three overtime periods before ultimately falling to Dan Hayden at heavyweights, 5-3.
Davidson will remain home to host Campbell and Coker Sunday, Feb. 15 at Belk Arena.
