JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Jacksonville threw for 313 yards and five touchdowns in the first half to hand Davidson a 42-12 loss in PFL action Saturday afternoon at D.B. Milne Field.

Jacksonville's Rylan Wells threw for 318 yards on 18-of-24 passes and four touchdowns, while two Dolphins collected over 100-yards receiving to lead both teams. Taylor Mitchell led the way for Davidson with 161 yards passing on 15-of-32 completions and one touchdown.

Freshman David Smith tallied a career-high 45 yards off six carries for the Wildcats.

Jacksonville (7-2, 4-2 PFL) got off to a hot start in the first 30 minutes, throwing five touchdown passes, including three over 40 yards. The Dolphins finished the half with 416 total yards, with the help of 313 from passing, while holding Davidson (1-8, 0-6 PFL) to 122 total yards with just eight first downs.

After the third JU score, Davidson found the end zone off a 13-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell to William Morris at the 9:10 mark of the second quarter.

Morris' touchdown catch was the 19th of his career, which moved the Dallas, Texas, native one touchdown away from tying Davidson's all-time career touchdown receptions record held by Lanny Funsten (20).

Coming out of the break, Davidson drove the ball all the way down field on a 70-yard, 15-play scoring drive that was capped off by a 22-yard field goal from Trevor Smith.

Following another 40-plus yard touchdown pass from Jacksonville, Smith nailed another field goal, this time a season-long 47-yarder, with 9:12 left in the contest that capped off the scoring for both squads.

Jacksonville finished the day with 582 total yards, compared to Davidson's 201. The Dolphins held the 'Cats to just 40 yards rushing and 14 first downs.

The Wildcats will return home to host San Diego on Senior Day at Richardson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
