Two Second-Half Goals Lead ECU Over the Wildcats

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The sister duo of Brianna and Lana Spitler each scored a goal in the second half to help East Carolina win its fourth straight game and deny Davidson its first road win in a 2-0 defeat for the Wildcats Friday night at Johnson Stadium in women's soccer.
Both teams were playing for the fourth year in a row, with all four decisions having gone now to ECU, which ran its record to 4-1 on the season. The 'Cats fell to 2-3 overall.
Both teams played to an even draw in the first half. Then in the 69th minute of the second half, Brianna scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Kendall Frey. Later in the half at the 83:18 mark, sister Lana netted her second goal of the campaign for the final of 2-0.
Ashley Finke had two of Davidson's four shots as it was outshot 12-4, while corner kicks went 10-1 in favor of ECU.
Goalkeeper Rachel Locke finished with four saves, pushing her Atlantic 10 leading total to 34 on the season.
The Wildcats remain on the road for a Sunday contest at Coastal Carolina with game time at 1 p.m.
