DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's soccer team played to their first draw of the season, earning a scoreless tie against visiting Georgia State Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.
Both teams were playing each other for just the second time, and first since 1995, with the 'Cats now holding a 1-0-1 record in the series.
Davidson (3-4-1) controlled possession the majority of the afternoon. It fired off 17 shots to GSU's nine, putting six of those shots on goal.
Twice the Wildcats nearly found the back of the net in the first half, hitting the post each time. The Panthers (1-4-3) had one last push in them in the second overtime, getting off three shots on good looks in the closing minutes, but Davidson's defense held strong.
Both keepers played all 110 minutes, with Rachel Locke earning three saves. Georgia State's Brie Haynes stopped six shots, including a trio during a 13 second scramble in the first half.
The Wildcats remain at home and will play host to William & Mary this coming Thursday, Sept. 18, at Alumni Stadium.
