OLEAN, N.Y. – Senior Stephanie Piperno scored a goal for the second game in a row and Davidson went on to collect its first Atlantic 10 win with a 2-0 shutout of host St. Bonaventure Friday afternoon at Marra Athletic Complex in women's soccer.

The Wildcats (4-7-1, 1-0 A-10) snapped their three-game losing skid and won for the first time since a 2-0 decision at Coastal Carolina, Sept. 7. Women's soccer also earned the first Atlantic 10 victory for all of Davidson's 19 sports that moved to the A-10 this year.

St. Bonaventure fell to 4-6-1 overall and 0-1 in A-10 play.

"Terrific first win in the A-10 for the team this afternoon on the road," said head coach Greg Ashton. "The whole team put in a great effort defending throughout the whole game. Rachel [Locke] made some big saves, Lauren [Grace Himes] scored her first career goal and Stephanie [Piperno] hit a tremendous shot for the game-winner. Overall, it was a great team win and they deserve the result after all the hard work they put in this week preparing for the weekend."

Vicky Bruce assisted on both goals, including Lauren Grace Himes' first collegiate score in the second half. The junior, who transferred from North Carolina, pushed her team-high assist total to three and is tied with Piperno for the team lead with seven points on the season.

Piperno scored the game-winner 16 minutes into the start of the contest off a corner kick from Bruce. The senior gathered in a short pass, dribbled toward the box and ripped a shot to the top-right corner of the goal for her team-leading third score of the year.

Later on in the second half, Himes added an insurance goal at the 57:48 mark off another Bruce assist on a corner kick. Bruce sent a low-liner that went past three Bonnie defenders and found the foot of Grace Himes for a one-timer just outside the goalkeeper box.

Locke and the Wildcat defense took care of the rest in earning the team's fourth shutout. The senior goalkeeper, who finished with five saves, halted the only real chance the Bonnies had with about five minutes remaining. Locke made a nice save moving to her left on a shot from 10 yards out.

St. Bonaventure held an 11-7 advantage in shots, while Davidson had a 5-3 edge on corners.

The Wildcats, in the midst of playing six games out of a seven-game stretch on the road, head to Pittsburgh, Pa., to take on Duquesne for the first time since 2000.
