GREENVILLE, S.C. – Freshman Sam Foy delivered another walk-off victory for Davidson, hitting an RBI-single in the 10th inning for a 7-6, series-clinching win over Furman in Southern Conference baseball action Sunday afternoon at Fluor Field.

Davidson was the designated home team in the contest, which was played at Fluor Field as part of the College Baseball Series presented by BB&T.

Davidson (8-9, 4-5 SoCon) held a 5-0 lead after five innings, but Furman (14-6, 5-4 SoCon) closed the gap to one by the end of the seventh inning, and went ahead 6-5 in the top of the ninth on a two-run home run by Chris Ohmstede. Outfielder Forrest Brandt doubled to leadoff the bottom of the ninth though, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by centerfielder Andrew Pope, and then third baseman Andrew Barna (1-for-4) hit a sacrifice fly to right to tie the game.

After allowing Furman to take the lead in the ninth following a move from shortstop to the mound, Michael Zeblo (1-0) allowed just a single in the top of the 10th, and then led the bottom half of the inning off for Davidson with a walk. He moved into scoring position when catcher Chris Dyer was hit by a pitch for the third time in the game and scored the game-winning run when Foy lifted a single to right-center field.

In Davidson's only other walk-off win this season, Foy was the hero in a 4-3 win over Appalachian State, March 2.

Dyer (1-for-2) and Brandt led the Wildcats with two RBI each, with Brandt going 2-for-3. Foy went 2-for-5 with a walk, while Zeblo went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.

Shortstop Hunter Burton (1 RBI), first baseman Alex Abrams and Ohmstede all went 3-for-5, with Ohmstede driving in four runs to lead the Paladins.

Foy doubled to leadoff the game and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Brandt, and Dyer was hit by a pitch in the second inning with the bases loaded for an early 2-0 Wildcat advantage. Davidson added three more runs in the fourth inning on an RBI-single by Dyer, a bases-loaded walk by Daniels and another sacrifice fly by Brandt.

Trailing 5-0, Furman got on the scoreboard against the bullpen in the fifth inning on an RBI-single by Ohmstede. In the sixth inning, an RBI-single by Burton and a sacrifice fly by catcher Paul Nitto cut Davidson's lead to two. Ohmstede homered in the seventh inning to cut Davidson's lead to one.

LHP Rob Bain started for Davidson and worked 5.0 innings, allowing just one unearned run on six hits while striking out one. RHP Jake Wolff lasted 3.1 innings in the start for Furman, and allowed four runs on four hits and two walks with one strikeout.

RHP Ben Carlson (2-1) took the loss, allowing the ninth and 10th inning runs on two hits and a walk.

Davidson will next host Cornell Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. before playing their next eight on the road.

Fluor Field is home of the Greenville Drive, a Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, and will also be the site of the 2013 SoCon Baseball Championship.
