Wildcats Prep for Stick It to Cancer

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Looking to rebound from last weekend's tough losses, the Wildcats host a pair of NorPac foes at Belk Turf Field this weekend, starting with the squad's Second Annual Stick it to Cancer match on Friday. The 'Cats will face league-leader Liberty for the contest at 6:30 p.m. before welcoming Radford to campus for a 1 p.m. contest Sunday afternoon.
Stick it to Cancer
Friday's match vs. Liberty will be Davidson's annual Stick it to Cancer contest. The squad will be partnering with Connor House to raise money for Bosom Buddies, which benefits Earlier.org – Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Tests. The team is selling t-shirts for $15, and raffle tickets will also be on sale at the game for $1 apiece or fight for $5. The tickets will be entered into a drawing for an autographed Stephen Curry basketball as well as gift cards to local restaurants and businesses. Students who attend are eligible to win a pair of Beats by Dre headphones as well as free food for the first 150 in attendance.
Series Histories
The Wildcats are 1-5 vs. Liberty since the Flames joined the NorPac in 2011. Liberty took the earlier meeting between the two teams by a score of 6-2, and also took the last contest at Belk Turf Field by a score of 3-2. Davidson is 14-26-2 against Radford since their first meeting in 1968. Two of the last three contests between the Wildcats and the Highlanders have gone to overtime, as Davidson claimed both contests last season before Radford claimed a 1-0 OT win earlier this season.
Scouting the Flames
Liberty enters this weekend's match with an 11-4 overall record and 5-0 NorPac mark. Natalie Barr leads the scoring 14 goals and nine assists for 37 points, while Ashlee Krulock has tallied 10 goals and a pair of assists for 22 points. Ann Jefferis has started 14 of 15 games in net, allowing just 16 goals with 48 saves for a save percentage of .750 and GAA of 1.19.
Scouting the Highlanders
Radford, who plays Appalachian State Friday evening, holds a 4-12 overall mark and is 2-3 in league action. Marianna Parker leads the way for the Highlanders with six goals and an assist for 13 points. Ashton Cox boasts a team-high three assists and three players are tied for second in scoring with two goals and an assist each. Sydney Encarnacion is the squad's primary goalkeeper, starting 15 games with 54 goals allowed and 212 saves for a save percentage of .691 percent.
