DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson led from the first inning to the end as freshman LHP Henry Sisson threw his third complete game of the season to help lead the Wildcats to a 6-2 victory over The Citadel in Southern Conference baseball action Friday evening at Wilson Field.

Sophomore left fielder Forrest Brandt hit a two-run home run for Davidson (17-26, 8-17 SoCon) in the fifth inning and seniors Jake Berman and James Cerbie both went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Freshman designated hitter Ryan Lowe and shortstop Michael Zeblo each drove in a run.

Sisson (4-2) went the distance, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four.

First baseman Calvin Orth went 2-for-4 for The Citadel (20-27, 9-13 SoCon), while second baseman Mason Davis and designated hitter Bo Thompson each had RBI-doubles.

Berman started the scoring by stealing home in the first inning with two outs. The Bulldogs tried to pickoff Brandt at first base had him caught in a rundown, but chased him too long and their attempt to get Berman at home was late, allowing both runners to advance safely. Cerbie and Lowe followed with back-to-back singles moving Brandt to third and across home plate, respectively, for a 2-0 Davidson lead.

An RBI-double by Davis in the top of the third inning halved Davidson's lead, but Zeblo restored Davidson's two-run advantage in the fourth inning by doubling to right, tagging up and moving to third on a fly-out and then scoring on a passed ball.

In the fifth inning, Brandt blasted a two-run home run deep into the trees in left center field for a 5-1 Davidson lead.

RHP Austin Pritcher (5-4) surrendered the five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out three.

The Citadel scored a run in the sixth inning on Thompson's double, but Sisson kept the Bulldogs scoreless over the final three frames. He retired the side in both the seventh and eighth innings and allowed two runners in scoring position in the ninth, but induced a pair of fly outs to end the game.

Davidson added its final run in the eighth inning as Cerbie scored on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Zeblo.

The two teams will not play on Saturday to allow The Citadel seniors to attend graduation ceremonies back in Charleston. The series will conclude with a doubleheader Sunday starting at 1 p.m. The Wildcats will honor their own seniors approximately 25 minutes after the conclusion of the first game, with the second game will beginning approximately 45 minutes after the first game ends.
