GREENSBORO, N.C. – Spartan pitcher Dylan Hathcock threw 7.2 innings, striking out seven and allowing just two runs and three hits in game one, and Thomas Troelstrup stroked a two-run, go-ahead single late in game two as UNCG swept Davidson in a Southern Conference baseball doubleheader at UNCG Baseball Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans took the first game 4-2 and the second 8-6.

Forrest Brandt was 4-for-5 with an RBI triple and two runs scored in the second contest, while Drew Gadaire and Ryan Lowe each collected two hits on the afternoon for the Wildcats (16-21, 7-14 SoCon). Ryan Overcash tossed a complete game the first contest, allowing three earned runs and fanning three.

Lloyd Enzor, Zach Leach and Troelstrup each had three hits on the day for UNCG (20-18, 6-12 SoCon).

With Davidson trailing 3-2 in game two, David Daniels' two-out, two-run single keyed a three-run seventh for the Wildcats. Calvin Sigelbaum started the inning with a single and scored later on an Andrew Barna single. Then with the bases loaded and two outs, Daniels got a hit to left field as Davidson opened a 5-3 advantage.

The Spartans came right back with five runs in the home half of the inning, including four with two outs in the frame, to open an 8-5 cushion. Troelstrup singled with the bases loaded and two outs to plate two, and Christian Wolfe followed with a two-run single before Danny Mooney took the hill to get the final out for Davidson.

The Wildcats got one back in the top of the eighth when Brandt tripled home Jake Berman, who led off the inning with a walk. But Jonathan Jones got the Wildcats in order in the top of the ninth to seal the victory.

The Spartans posted runs in the first, second, third and fifth innings to open a 4-0 lead in game one. Davidson broke through in the eighth inning with a two-out rally. Sigelbaum walked, and Berman homered over the centerfield wall to trim the margin in half.

Brandt followed by reaching on an error, and Gadaire singled to put runners on first and second. But the Spartans brought in Brennan James, who struck out Barna to end the threat.

Overcash got the Spartans in order in the bottom of the frame, but James completed the save by putting the Wildcats down in order in the top of the ninth.

Davidson returns to action on the road Tuesday as the 'Cats travel to Virginia Tech for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
