Chamberlin served up four straight points, including an ace, to put the 'Cats in front 11-5 in the first set. However the Eagles rallied to tie the set at 15-15 on a block by Paskert and Curry. Georgia Southern then scored ten of the last 13 points in the set to earn the 25-18 victory.
This time, it was Brown's turn to serve four consecutive points – including an ace – to put Davidson head 7-4. A kill by Coley tied the set at 9-9, and the Eagles would take a 17-13 lead on an ace by Van Dyke. Sewell had an ace on the way to serving four points, two of which were back-to-back kills from Chamblerin, as the 'Cats tied the set at 20-20. A run by the Eagles had them serving set point at 24-21, but a five-point rally by the Wildcats gave them the stunning 26-24 win.
Each squad took a turn at an early run in the third set, with the Wildcats tying the game at 7-7 on back-to-back kills from Chamberlin. Ley had an ace to give Davidson the one-point advantage, but the Eagles tied things once again at 11-11. The teams traded points before Georgia Southern slammed down three consecutive kills to emerge the victor at 25-20.
GSU jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the fourth set, though a set of kills from Chamberlin kept the game in reach for the 'Cats. An attacking error by the Eagles cut the Davidson deficit to three at 14-11, but the Eagles put up seven of the final ten points to earn the 25-15 victory.
The Wildcats will return home for a pair of SoCon matches, including the annual Senior Day festivities. They will host Furman on Saturday at 4 p.m. before facing off against Wofford in the regular season finale in a 2 p.m. match on Sunday.
