Freshman MF Max Riehemann scored his first career goal in the Garnder-Webb match.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES:
Winthrop (Big South) comes to Davidson off of a two game losing streak to Southern Conference teams after falling to Furman and College of Charleston. Winthrop had a strong start to the season though as they defeated Brevard and SoCon members Georgia Southern, and Wofford. The Eagles front line has already scored 11 goals, which ranks 20th in the nation. Alex Mantchev and Akeem Matthews lead the team with three goals each.

LAST MEETING:

The two teams closed the first half scoreless, and almost even across the stat sheet. Davidson held a 7-6 advantage in total shots, and a 7-3 lead in corner kicks. Winthrop broke the scoreless tie in the 62nd minute when Miquel Casajuana collected a deflected shot and put the ball into the back of the net.

NINTH IN THE NSCAA SOUTH: Davidson slipped just one spot in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire South Region Rankings. Four Southern Conference teams populate the 10-team list. College of Charleston ranks fourth, Furman is fifth, and UNCG is sixth. North Carolina, ranked in the top-10 nationally, leads the region and two other ACC teams on the list.

MOVING UP: Senior GK Chip Sanders needed to make just one save against Denver (0-1-1) to earn his 10th career shutout and tie Mike Iordanou (1977-81) for fifth all-time in the category at Davidson.
