STATESBORO, Ga. -- No. 27-ranked Georgia Southern completed the Southern Conference series sweep with an 11-2 win over the Davidson Wildcats Sunday afternoon at J.I. Clements Stadium.

Davidson drops to 13-20 overall and 8-10 in the Southern Conference, while Georgia Southern improves to 28-9 overall and 12-4 in the league.

Right fielder Chase FitzPatrick (4-for-5, RBI) and left fielder Pat Brady (3-for-5) combined for seven of the Wildcats' 13 hits. Third baseman Calvin Sigelbaum added a pair of hits, his second straight two-hit game of the series.

Matt Webb (3-1) made his second start of the season for Davidson and picked up his first loss after allowing nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits in four innings.

Matt Murray (3-2) earned the win for the Eagles, allowing just one run on nine hits in six innings, while striking out six to no walks. Georgia Southern was led at the plate by a 4-for-4, three-RBI performance from Randy Williams.

Things looked promising early for the Wildcats, who scored a run in the first inning on three hits. Short stop Zach Kayne doubled to start the game, took third on a fielding error in center field and scored as first baseman Drew Gadaire followed with a double into right. Gadaire was eliminated on a one-out fielder's choice from Brady, and FitzPatrick hit the third double of the inning to put runners on second and third, but Seth Freeman grounded out to end the inning.

Georgia Southern's offense continued to put up runs in bunches for a third straight day, jumping out to a 9-1 lead by the fourth inning.

After the Eagles added another run in the bottom of the sixth, Davidson got its final run in the seventh on three hits, once again getting to the Georgia Southern bullpen. Colin Snow relieved Murray and gave up three straight base hits to designated hitter Danny Weiss, Brady and FitzPatrick for a run. Snow, though, got a double-play ball from Freeman and ended the Wildcat threat on a Brett Shore groundout.

Georgia Southern added its final run in the bottom of the frame on an RBI-double from Kevin Bowles.

Davidson will step out of conference play for a pair of midweek contests, traveling to Radford Tuesday and hosting N.C. A&T at 6 p.m Wednesday. The Wildcats will host UNC Greensboro for a three-game Southern Conference set this weekend.
