
Field Hockey Opens Home Slate This Weekend

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After starting their 2008 season on the road, the Davidson field hockey team returns to Belk Turf Field for a pair of home games this weekend. The Wildcats will take on Georgetown on Friday and take the field against VCU the next day.
The weekend opens when the 'Cats and Hoyas square off at 7 p.m. at Belk Turf. Georgetown enters the game with an 0-2 record, having lost to No. 20 Ohio, 3-2, and to Saint Louis, 4-0. This will be the 11th meeting all-time between these two schools, with the Wildcats holding a 6-4 series lead, including five wins in a row, with the last coming in 2006.
Then on Saturday, Davidson will look to hand VCU their first loss of the season, with the Rams taking a pair of one-goal victories to start the year. VCU won their opener, 2-1, in overtime over Fairfield, then followed that up with a 1-0 triumph over future Davidson foe Monmouth. This will be the first contest between VCU and Davidson since the 2003 season, with the Rams leading the all-time series, 8-7. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
