BOX SCORE

DAVIDSON, N.C. ––
Lead by a well-balanced Wildcat attack with five different players scoring three goals, the Davidson women's lacrosse team tied a school record for most wins in a single season by earning a 19-5 victory over visiting Presbyterian at Richardson Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Wildcats ran their overall mark to 9-3, tying the 2006 squad for most wins in a season. In addition, Davidson also tied last year's team for the most wins in a row by picking up their fifth straight victory. Last year's team rattled off wins in their final five games of the season.

Presbyterian dropped to 2-3 on the year.

Leading the way for the 'Cats with the three goals was the senior trio of Sarah Walter, Emily Diefendorf and Kate McDonald, along with junior Becky Horton and sophomore Jen Crawford. McDonald's three scores were a career-high, giving her a personal-best eight goals on the season.

The senior trio and Crawford set the tone for the game by each picking up a goal in the first 11 minutes as Davidson grabbed a 5-0 lead and never looked back.

Crawford continued her outstanding season by pushing her team-leading goal total to 30 on the year, 11 more than her than what she scored as freshman. The sophomore has scored at least one goal in every game but one this year.

Besides her three goals in the game, Walter added her 10th assist on the season to push her career total to 35.

Also finding the back of the net was Kelly Finnigan (2), Emily Palmer (1) and Heather Frohman (1) to round out the Wildcat scoring. Finnigan's two goals and Frohman's single goal were their first scores of the season for the duo.

Jenna Handshoe and Jordan Newberry paced the Blue Hose with two goals each. Erin McBurnette played all 60 minutes in goal and registered 19 saves.

Senior Laura Johnson ran her record to 9-3 with the win between the pipes, while Michelle Pav recorded three saves in finishing out the victory.

Davidson fired off a season-high 52 shots, placing 38 of them on goal for another season-best.

Davidson hits the road for a three-game swing starting on Apr. 11 at Cincinnati for a 4 p.m. game.
