
Wildcats Look to Become First 10 Seed to Advance to the Final Four

- 10th seeded Davidson (29-6) enters the “Elite Eight” having won 25 straight games, the nation's longest streak.
- Friday evening against third-seeded and Big Ten Champion Wisconsin, the two clubs battled back and forth to a halftime tie (36-36), before the Wildcats took control and cruised into the Midwest Regional Finals with a 73-56 victory.
- For the fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament game, sophomore sensation Stephen Curry hit the 30-point plateau with a game-high 33 points, including six three-pointers to tie the NCAA record for threes in a single season with 158. Jason Richards also impressesd, scoring 11 points and handing out 13 assists, while Andrew Lovedale went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field to finish with 12 points.
- Richards' 13 assists moved him ahead of Ali Ton and into first all-time on the Davidson charts. His performance against the Badgers also tied a record for assists in a regional contest.
- Davidson's last trip to the “Elite Eight” came in 1969, when Lefty Driesell led the Wildcats to the East Regional Finals before falling to North Carolina. The Wildcats have never been to the Final Four.
- Curry is just the fourth player to score at least 30 points in each of his first four NCAA Tournament games, joining Glenn Robinson (Purdue 1993-94), Jerry Chambers (Utah 1966) and Clyde Lovellette (Kansas 1952).
- Curry, the SoCon Player of the Year and second-team All-America selection (Sporting News & Sports Illustrated), ranks fourth nationally with an average of 25.9 per outing. The five-time SoCon Player of the Week and four-time Player of the Month, ranks among national leaders in free-throw percentage (12th/89.2), 3-pointers made (1st/158) and 3-pointers per game (2nd/4.5).
- Richards, Curry's backcourt mate and fellow first-team all-conference selection, is also averaging double digits (12.9 ppg.) and leads the country in assists at 8.1 per contest. The 2008 Bob Cousy nominee is the first player in school history to score 1,000 points and hand out 600 assists.
- Davidson and the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks have never met on the hardwood.
