DAVIDSON, N.C. – Goals from Madelyn Hayes and Reese Montgomery propelled the Davidson College women's soccer team to a dominant 2-0 win over College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Stadium.

With a victory in their home opener for the second consecutive year, the Wildcats moved to 2-1 overall.

Davidson commanded the tempo throughout the game, outshooting the Cougars 19-7 and limiting them to just one shot on target.

Montgomery gave the 'Cats the lead in the 24th minute, diving into the penalty box to collect a pass from Sophia Whiddon and tap home the score.

Hayes scored her goal coming out of the halftime break, beating her defender 1-on-1 to put the Wildcats up 2-0 in the 50th minute.

Overall, 10 Davidson players took a shot in the game, with four players having multiple shot attempts. Hayes led the way, putting up a career-high six shots, including five on target.

Olivia Bestic continued her ironman streak, playing the full 90 for the 'Cats in her 18th consecutive appearance.
