Hot-Shooting ‘Cats Cruise on Education Day

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Behind a 53 percent clip from the floor, including 13 3-pointers, Davidson cruised past Morgan State, 78-34, on Education Day Friday inside John M. Belk Arena.
Playing in front of just over 3,000 fans, a majority from surrounding schools, the Wildcats improved to 9-4 overall, while the Bears fell to 1-13.
In all, 12 different Davidson players scored, led by Candice Lienafa's 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and four treys. Edina Strausz also finished in double figures with 12 points to go along with nine rebounds.
In control from start to finish, Davidson used a 12-2 spurt late in the opening quarter to push the lead to double figures where it would stay.
The Wildcats, who led 39-18 at the half extended the margin to as many as 46 midway through the fourth quarter.
Davidson, which got 50 points from its bench, was just as impressive on the defensive end, limiting Morgan State to just 29.5 percent.

Davidson will close out its three-game homestand Sunday when NC State comes to town for a 12 p.m. nationally-televised contest (CBSSN).
