Wildcats Host UC Davis, Stanford This Weekend

10/16/2025 4:21:00 PM | Field Hockey

The Davidson field hockey team will step outside of Atlantic 10 play this weekend and play two non-conference games — against former NorPac foes — at Carol Grotnes Belk Turf Field.

The Wildcats will host UC Davis on Friday at 7 p.m., then welcome Stanford on Sunday at 1 p.m.

PINK GAME VS. STANFORD
• Sunday's game will be Davidson's annual "Pink Game," as the Wildcats partner with Connor House's Bosom Buddies to raise awareness for breast cancer and funds for its research.

LATEST ON THE 'CATS
• Davidson enters the weekend 7-5 overall and has won six of its previous eight.
• Most recently, the Wildcats fell 2-1 to A-10 foe Richmond in double-overtime on Oct. 10.
• Davidson is 2-2 in the A-10 with two league games to go and leads the league with 37 goals.
• With a 5-4 win at William & Mary Oct. 5, the Wildcats secured at least seven wins for the third straight year.
• Davidson went 7-11 in 2023 and 7-8 last season.
• The last time the Wildcats won more than seven games was in 2015 (8-11).
• In September, the Wildcats posted a five-game win streak, the team's longest since 2010.
• In A-10 play, Davidson owns wins over La Salle (3-2 on Sept. 19) and Lock Haven (5-1 on Sept. 26).

SIB-SATIONAL
• Senior Sib Naaktgeboren continues to be the catalyst as the A-10's top scorer with 14 goals, which is tied for fourth nationally. It's the most goals a Wildcat has scored since Finley Amato also had 14 in 2011.
• Naaktgeboren also leads the A-10 with 34 points, 5.08 shots per game and 3.50 shots-on-goal per game. She ranks fourth with six assists.
• A two-time A-10 Second Team selection, Naaktgeboren has scored multiple goals in five games this year, including four at Towson (Aug. 31) and three at William & Mary.
• She was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 15 and 22.
• Naaktgeboren is climbing the Davidson records and closing in on multiple marks such as single-season goals (18) and single-season points (39), and she is three off the career assists (24) mark.

MULTI-PRONGED ATTACK
• Naaktgeboren has plenty of help, too, as the Wildcats have eight other multi-goal scorers.
• That list includes Matilda Collins, Eva van der Kooi and Lourdes Wolf, who have each scored four goals.
Celie Constantine, Emelia Little, Hannah Merritt, Ava Mickel and Emilia Ostos have scored two goals apiece.
• Wolf is a two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week, and Ostos also has an A-10 Rookie of the Week honor.
• Constantine leads the Wildcats and is tied for second in the A-10 with seven assists.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
• UC Davis comes to town with a 5-6 record after most recently topping Saint Louis 2-1 in overtime Oct. 5.
• The Aggies are led by Ella Franken, who has seven goals and four assists, and Karly Redman, who has six goals.
• UC Davis is affiliated with the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
• The Wildcats and Aggies have not met since 2018.

SCOUTING THE CARDINAL
• Stanford begins the weekend with a Friday afternoon game at Atlantic Coast Conference foe Wake Forest.
• The Cardinal is 5-7 overall and 2-4 in the ACC after earning a 2-1 overtime win over Boston College Oct. 12.
• Natalie Hoppe and Kate Nemec lead the way with three goals apiece.
• Davidson and Stanford have not met since 2013, and the Wildcats own one win in the series (1999).
