Wildcats Take Loss at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, SC - The Davidson women's soccer team was able to prevent a shutout by way of SJ Pak's first goal of the season in the 89th minute of competition as Coastal Carolina defeated the Wildcats 3-1 on the road Sunday.
The loss moves the 'Cats overall record to 4-2-2 as they finish the non-conference portion of the schedule and move into their 10-game Atlantic 10 slate.
The Chanticleers held controlled the offensive third in the opening 45 minutes out-shooting Davidson 12-0 before taking a one-goal advantage at the halftime break. Coming out of the break Coastal went on to scatter two additional goals in the 64th and 77th minutes to extend their lead.
In the waning moments of the match, the 'Cats were awarded a free kick that resulted in Sophia Whiddon dishing her third assist of the season, this time to the foot of Pak who netted the Wildcats lone goal of the afternoon.
The Wildcats totaled 10 shots, to Coastal's 19, with three coming from Whiddon. In addition to Pak's strike, Savannah Pruitt was the remaining Davidson player to place a shot on target.
Emily Smith in another 90-minute showing made five saves.
