Wildcats Stun Chanticleers For Third Straight Win

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Four Wildcats scored hat tricks while Jenna Skibbe recorded her second four-goal game of the season to lift Davidson past Coastal Carolina 18-9 in non-conference lacrosse action on Wednesday night.
The win improves Davidson's overall record to 3-1, while the Chanticleers drop to 1-3.
In addition to Skibbe's efforts, Shayna Brodman, Riley Cochrane, Allie Hartnett and Riley Moore scored three goals apiece. Brodman, Cochrane and Hartnett also added three assists each, as the trio led the night with a game-high six points.
Coastal Carolina jumped all over a 6-1 lead through the first quarter of play, before the 'Cats turned it on in the second and outscored the Chanticleers 9-1 over the next 20 minutes.
Davidson carried its momentum late into the second half, holding Coastal to just two goals while scoring 12 of its own to run away with the nine-goal victory.
Freshman Kayla Joyce earned the first win of her young career in net, as the keeper made four saves and allowed just four goals in the final 45 minutes of play.
Alanna Dumulac dominated the Chanticleers in the circle, winning eight draw controls and helping the 'Cats to win 18 of 30 draws in the contest. The sophomore also scored the first goal of her career to kickstart Davidson's 4-0 fourth quarter.
