'Cats Welcome #16 UMass for Saturday Draw

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The last two undefeated teams in Atlantic 10 lacrosse will square off at Richardson Stadium on Saturday afternoon, as the Wildcats play host to #16 UMass at noon.
LAST TIME OUT... The Davidson lacrosse team relied on a four-goal third quarter to pull away from the George Washington Colonials last Saturday and defeat the Atlantic 10 foe 12-7. GW controlled the game's momentum in the first half with deadlock defense, holding the 'Cats to just five goals and 11 first half turnovers. Riley Moore paced the Wildcats' second half boost with a game high and career high three goals, while Julianne Carey had a game-best four points and seven draw controls.
THE SERIES... UMass holds the all-time series at a 10-0 advantage. Davidson met the Minutewomen twice last season, once during the regular season and once at the Atlantic 10 semifinals, where UMass defeated the 'Cats just 13-11 and 11-8. In the semifinal match up, goalkeeper Amanda Monahan made 19 saves and faced 37 shots while Julianne Carey led the way with three goals.
AROUND THE HORN... Julianne Carey ranks 12th in the nation with 7.2 draw controls per game and Grace Fahey also checks into the top-12 with 52 points this season. Erin Cooke's 25 assists ranks 13th nationally, while Amanda Monahan's 9.96 goals against average is good for top-20 in the country and number one across the Atlantic 10.
ABOUT THE MINUTEWOMEN... UMass is 10-1 overall and 4-0 in A-10 play entering Saturday's contest, led by Fiona McGowan who ranks eighth nationally in points with 53 and is 11th among DI leaders in assists with 26. UMass ranks fifth among Division I teams in scoring margin by outscoring its opponents by an average of 7.6 goals per game. In four A-10 games this season, the Minutewomen have outscored their opponents by an average of 13 goals per game and have won all three by double-digits.
