Wildcats Downed by #16 UMass

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The scoring occurred early and often for the #16 Minutewomen on Saturday afternoon, as UMass held Davidson to a season-low four goals scored during a 14-4 Atlantic 10 loss.
UMass' Charlotte Wilmoth and Alex Finn contributed three goals apiece, as Finn recorded a game-best five points and the Minutewomen out-shot the Wildcats 36-21.
Davidson got off the first shot of the day during the contest, and had seven first quarter looks, but UMass' goalkeepers combined for 11 saves on the day to preserve the win.
Erin Cooke struck first for the 'Cats, scoring an unassisted goal at the 4:06-mark, while Riley Moore followed up with Davidson's second goal less than two minutes into the second quarter, which cut the deficit to 4-2.
From there, UMass scored six unanswered goals to take a 9-2 lead before Sophia Passalaqua and Julianne Carey scored back-to-back goals to bring the 'Cats back within six of the visitors, 10-4. Over the final 13 minutes of play, the Minutewomen scored four more and solidified the 10-goal victory.
The Wildcats won six draws compared to UMass' 16, while the Davidson defense went 20-of-23 on clearing opportunities.
