DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson Wildcats are set to begin a nine-game road trip on Wednesday morning, heading to College Park to take on No. 19 Maryland from inside the Xfinity Center at 11 a.m.

Broadcast coverage will be available on B1G+ with in-game updates at @DavidsonWBB on Twitter.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Davidson's meeting with the Terps is just the second in the program's 44-year history.
  • The last time the 'Cats met Maryland, the two teams opened up the 2020-21 season together at the #BeachBubble Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla., where the Terps won 94-72.
  • In the previous meeting, Chloe Welch dropped 23 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds.
  • Outside of Maryland, Davidson has met just three other Big 10 opponents in program history, taking on Michigan State, Nebraska and Rutgers a combined seven times.
  • A win against the nationally-ranked Terrapins would be the program's first victory over a B1G foe and against a ranked opponent.
FOUR THINGS TO KNOW
LAST TIME OUT
In front of its largest home opening crowd ever (1,527), Davidson fell to Duke, 60-37, on Saturday after a 19-6 scoring run from the Blue Devils in the third quarter. The 'Cats trailed just 26-19 after the first half, and tied Duke 19-19 after a long two from Elle Sutphin before the end of the frame.

SCOUTING THE TERPS
Maryland's most recent victory came over Davidson's A-10 rival, Fordham University. The Terps defeated the Rams 83-76, behind a double-double (22 points, 13 rebounds) from Maryland senior Diamond Miller. Fordham overcame a 15-point deficit after hitting seven 3-pointers in the third quarter before a three-pointer from Miller gave the Terps the go-ahead basket to win it. Through three games, Maryland is averaging 75.7 points per game and shooting 42.1 percent from the floor.

WELCH WATCH
Fifth year guard Chloe Welch has 941 career points to date, and is leading the Wildcats in scoring through two games, along with Suzi-Rose Deegan, averaging 12.5 points per game. The Colorado native also led Davidson in rebounding last season and is doing the same so far this year, averaging 8.0 boards per game.

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
The Wildcats' non-conference schedule is as strong as ever, as Davidson hosted Duke last week, who is receiving votes in the AP Top-25 while awaiting the No. 19 Terrapins on Wednesday. On December 15, the 'Cats are also set to meet NC State, who is currently ranked 10th in the nation.
