SERIES HISTORY
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
LAST TIME OUT
The Davidson women's basketball team shot 64 percent from the field over the final two quarters of play on Monday night to come from behind and beat the High Point Panthers 77-64 in its season opener. Suzi-Rose Deegan led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Chloe Welch and Elle Sutphin scored 13 apiece from inside the Qubein Center. Welch, a fifth-year senior, shot 4-of-9 from the field while also recording nine rebounds, three steals and three assists.
MILESTONE MARKER
Davidson women's basketball is closing in on 500 wins as it begins its 44th season. The Wildcats have collected 494 wins in program history.
HOMETOWN HEROES
The 'Cats have had four straight winning seasons at home (8-5, 10-6, 5-4, 7-6) from the 2018-19 to 2021-22 seasons and have averaged 64.9 points per game inside Belk Arena during that four-year stretch season.
AUSSIE MAGIC
Davidson has created an Australian pipeline in the Gayle Fulks era, as the 'Cats currently have four Aussies on their roster and have had six Australian natives in total on the team since Fulks took over the helm in 2017-18. This season, Rosie Deegan and Adelaide Fuller are the two seniors from the Down Under, while sophomore and All-Rookie selection Issy Morgan hails from Sydney. Newcomer and Fordham transfer Millie Prior is also native to Sydney.
THE SUTPHIN FILE
Redshirt-junior Elle Sutphin returns to the Wildcats for year two, as she was named to the Atlantic 10's Preseason All-Conference Second Team in October. The Pilot Mountain, N.C. native finished her debut season with the 'Cats averaging a team-best 13.4 points per game and shot 53.2 percent from the field, good for third-best across the A-10. The forward also recorded 24 double-digit performances last year, including six 20-plus point games and a career-high 32-point performance against Richmond.
