WASHINGTON D.C. – The Davidson Wildcats ended their three-game losing skid on Wednesday night with an electric 56.5 percent shooting effort to route George Washington 67-37 from inside the Charles E. Smith Center.
Wednesday's win marks the third time this season in which the 'Cats have shot 50 percent or better from the floor, and was the team's second-best effort from deep this year, as the Wildcats torched the net at a 46.7 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Davidson cruised to their 12th win of the season and third in A-10 play against the Colonials, holding GW to just four points in the third quarter and out scoring the home team 36-17 over the final 20 minutes of play.
Despite the Colonials getting on the scoreboard first, Davidson's senior class trio of Chloe Welch, Cassidy Gould and Sarah Konstans ignited the offense and led the 'Cats on an 8-0 run to take the lead and never looked back.
After draining their first four 3-point attempts on the night, the Wildcats stretched their lead to 16-10 before the end of the first quarter and pushed that advantage up to 10 by the 7:36 mark in the second, thanks to a layup from Adelaide Fuller.
Although GW crawled back within four of the 'Cats before the end of the half, 22-18, redshirt-sophomore Elle Sutphin scored seven straight for Davidson and allowed the Wildcats to head into halftime with a 31-20 lead, their largest of the day before the second half surge.
Sutphin ended the night with a game-high 16 points, while Konstans added a season-high 13 points. Welch added seven points, seven rebounds and four assists while Fuller scored nine and Cameron Tabor finished with seven.
Davidson ended the night holding the Colonials to 22 percent shooting from the floor, and out rebounded GW 35-23.
