SETTING THE SCENE... After snapping a six-game losing streak last weekend, the Davidson Wildcats will look to continue to right the ship this week, taking on George Washington and George Mason in an Atlantic 10 weekend series. Davidson ranks ninth among currently Atlantic 10 standings, while the Colonials sit in 13th.
PREVIOUSLY... The 'Cats returned to Belk Arena for a Friday/Sunday match up against La Salle and Saint Joe's. The 'Cats dropped the first contest to La Salle but bounced back with a lights out performance, trouncing Saint Joe's 71-64. In the win, Davidson shot 53.1 percent, just missing their season high of 53.3 percent, and hit 14 free throws to secure the victory. Against the Hawks, the Wildcats had four scorers reach double-figures in scoring for the third time this season and are now 2-1 when doing so.
VS. GW... Since joining the Atlantic 10 in 2014-15, GW holds the all-time series at a 3-4 advantage. The Wildcats have won their last three meetings against the Colonials, while head coach Gayle Fulks is 3-1 when taking on George Washington in her tenure. Davidson last met GW on January 1, 2021, when Adelaide Fuller hit a three-pointer with 12 seconds remaining on the clock to secure the 66-62 win for the Wildcats.
ABOUT THE PATRIOTS... George Mason is 3-16 overall and 0-12 in Atlantic 10 play this season, with Marika Korpinen leading the Patriots at 9.7 points per game. Daijah Jefferson is the team's anchor, as the graduate student averages 8.9 points per game and 7.3 boards per game. As a team, the Patriots average 51.5 points per game and are 14th among Atlantic 10 standings.
RAINING THREE'S... Through this season, Davidson currently ranks 81st in the country and third in the Atlantic 10 for made three-pointers, averaging 7.1 per game and draining 121 total.
UNSUNG HERO... As a junior, Sarah Konstans has been an unsung hero for the Wildcats this season, as the Texan averages a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game and has grabbed the most boards on the team, at 102 total. Konstans also holds a true shooting percentage of 52.5 percent.
TALK ABOUT BALANCE... In all but four of Davidson's games this season, three or more Wildcats have scored in double-figures. Thrice, the 'Cats have had four scorers reach double-figures, once against FGCU, ETSU and Saint Joe's. In all of those games, Cameron Tabor has been one of Davidson's scoring leaders, while setting new career-highs for herself along the way.
STRENGTH IN NUMBERS... Dating back to last season, Davidson is now 16-4 when making 25 field goals or more in a single game. In those games, the Wildcats shot at least 35.9% or better from from the floor including four performances with a 50% or higher field goal percentage.
