GENEVA, Ohio — Davidson swimmer Sarah Helen Shepherd won the 400-yard individual medley and trimmed more than two seconds off her own school record to highlight Friday's action at the Atlantic 10 Championships.
A day after winning the 200 IM and reclaiming that program mark, Shepherd swam out front in the 400 IM, giving the Wildcats a win in the first event of the night session for the second straight night.
She posted a time of 4:14.81, surpassing her previous best of 4:17.47 from last year's conference meet, when she finished third.
Freshman Shelby Stanley, second to Shepherd in the 200 IM Thursday, placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:17.91), continuing her strong debut season.
Siena Senn, who won the 500 freestyle in Thursday's first final, took bronze in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.36. Freshman Abby Francis took eighth in the event (1:51.19).
Julia Goodhead placed fifth in the 100 backstroke (55.26), missing the school mark by 0.1 second. She joined Shepherd, Stanley and Francis on the 400 medley relay team that placed fourth (3:42.77).
