GENEVA, Ohio — Three Davidson program relay records fell Wednesday, on the opening night of the Atlantic 10 Championships at the SPIRE Institute, giving the Wildcats a strong start to the four-day event.
New records were set in the women's 800-yard freestyle and 200 medley relays and the men's 200 medley.
"It was a great night," said Davidson coach John Young. "A great start, but there is a lot of meet left. Both teams have so much potential. Here's hoping we build on tonight's great successes."
The women's 800 quartet of Siena Senn, Sarah Helen Shepherd, Shelby Stanley and Frances Resweber posted a time of 7:16.47 and finished second.
Shepherd and Stanley joined Hope Carpenter and Abby Francis on the 200 medley, which posted a time of 1:40.81 and tied for second.
The men's 200 medley relay of Kevin Andrews, Will Tabor, Alex Strasser and Kilian Quinn set the new program mark at 1:29.77, finishing seventh.
Of the new records set Wednesday, the men's 200 medley had lasted the longest. The previous Davidson mark was set in 2012.
The men's 800 free relay placed fourth Wednesday, as Walter Dauksher, Ian Hentenaar, Crossan Cooper and Brian Hynes posted a time of 6:34.88.
