
Wildcats Host Bucs in Final Non-Conference Tune Up

LAST TIME OUT... The 'Cats won their second game in as many contests, and first on the road, on Friday after clipping App State, 67-64 in the final minutes of play. Davidson trailed for nearly the entire game, before Chloe Welch scored 18 fourth quarter points to put the Wildcats on top.
SCOUTING THE BUCS... ETSU is 1-3 in the early parts of this season, winning their season opener against Longwood before dropping their next three contests. Through four games, the Bucs are shooting 31.0 percent from the floor and are led by Mykia Dowdell, who averages 8.5 points per game and shoots 52.2 percent from the field.
THE SERIES... Friday's match up will be the 10th meeting between Davidson and ETSU since 2004. Davidson holds the series' clip at a 5-4 advantage, winning two of the five inside Belk Arena. The 'Cats won the last meeting, 75-60, in Johnson City, Tenn. on Nov. 30, 2019 with senior guard Katie Turner dropping 18 points and dishing five assists.
WELCH'S WAY... Junior guard Chloe Welch has had a breakout start to the season, scoring a team and then career-high 23 points against No. 12 Maryland and Wake Forest in back-to-back games. The Colorado native scored in double figures all five games this season, and set a new career-high 32 points against Appalachian State on Friday. Currently, Welch is shooting 51.2 percent from the floor and ranks 20th in the nation with 43 made field goals this season. Welch's efforts last week earned her the Atlantic 10's Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
HEY MS. CARTER... After playing only nine games as a freshman, Peyton Carter has worked her way into Davidson's lineup, starting the Wildcats' last five games. This season, she is averaging 8.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, and is shooting a team-high 54.8 percent from the field. Carter set a career-high against Florida Gulf Coast, on Nov. 29, scoring 12 points and marked her first performance scoring in double-figures.
SECOND HALF WARRIORS... In their last four outings, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents by a combined 26 points in the second halves. In each of those halves, the 'Cats drained 12 or more field goals.
