DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson extended its unbeaten streak Thursday night, coming away with a scoreless draw at home against VMI in women's soccer inside Alumni Stadium.
The four-game unbeaten streak is the longest since the Wildcats (5-3-1) rattled off four straight wins in 2009. Tonight's game was the first meeting all-time vs. the Keydets.
Comments from head coach Adam Denton
"There were some good parts and some not so good parts, but I think for the majority of the game we did play very well. We created numerous opportunities in the first half and second half, changed our system and rotated some players, so we did a lot of good things tonight. But, the all-important goal for us did not come tonight and that was disappointing."
"It's a learning lesson tonight for us. If we play that well, we've got to take those opportunities that we create and finish them off."
"We can take the positives, and the positives are that is four clean sheets in a row. We've had a good non-conference season, now it's time to focus on conference play starting Sunday against a good Saint Joseph's team. It's going to be a big challenge for us, but we have to rest and recover, and we are looking forward to Sunday."
Quick Hits From the Game:
•Davidson controlled possession the majority of the game, outshooting VMI (1-6-1) by the count of 21-4, including 11 shots in the second half.
•The 21 shots were a season high and eight of those shots went on goal.
•Hailey Braemer had a team-best five shots, putting two of them on goal.
•Cameron France and Sabine Chandler each fired off three shots.
•Sarah L'Hommedieu and Mary Grace Bunch helped preserve the shutout, coming up with one save each.
•Davidson had a 4-2 edge on corner kicks.
