GREENVILLE, S.C. – Despite a pair of goals from Justin Stone, both set up by Jamie DiLuzio, Davidson fell at Furman, 3-2, in non-conference men's soccer action Saturday evening at Stone Stadium.
The Wildcats drop to 1-3-0 on the season, while the Paladins move to 4-1-1.
Furman, which is Davidson's third of four straight opponents to play in the NCAA Tournament a year ago, grabbed the early lead on a tap-in goal from Emery May.
Stone provided a 26th minute equalizer for the 'Cats with a header inside the near post off a DiLuzio corner kick.
In the 56th minute, the Paladins went back in front on a header of their own from Jack Shiels.
Trailing 2-1 late, DiLuzio and Stone connected again, this time taking advantage of a Furman turnover in the attacking third.
Minutes after Stone evened the score with his team-leading third goal of 2019, Davidson was forced to play a man down following a red card.
With just under four minutes to play, the Paladins' Rocky Guerra found Miles Fenton in front for the game-winner.
Sawyer Gaffney finished with a game-high six saves for the Wildcats.
Up Next
Davidson will conclude its season-long four-match road swing with a 7 p.m. kickoff at nationally-ranked North Carolina Tuesday evening.
