‘Cats Battle No. 11 UNC to Scoreless Draw in Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Playing its fourth straight NCAA Tournament team from a year ago, Davidson capped its lengthy road swing with a scoreless draw at No. 11 North Carolina Tuesday evening.
The Wildcats move to 1-3-1 on the young season, while the Tar Heels now sit at 3-1-2.
Senior Sawyer Gaffney led both keepers with three saves for Davidson. Along with Gaffney, defenders Louis Evans, Malcolm McCabe and Stefane Zemmali logged the entire 110 minutes to preserve the shutout.
Despite trailing the all-time series 26-5-3 dating back to 1956, the Wildcats are 2-4-1 against UNC in the last seven meetings. The previous six were each decided by the score of 1-0.

After three weeks away from home, Davidson returns to Alumni Stadium for its conference opener, a 7 p.m. kickoff with Saint Louis on Saturday night.
