Wildcats Have Unfinished Business on the Road

Having opened the Atlantic 10 volleyball season with five home matches, Davidson is now set to close with four on the road.

And a lot is yet to be determined for the Wildcats, who are vying for a spot in the league's six-team postseason tournament.

The Wildcats (10-13) enter Friday's 7 p.m. match at Rhode Island at 5-5 in league play and in sixth place, a half-game behind George Washington and La Salle and 1.5 ahead of Duquesne.

"After the conference schedule came out in the winter, we knew that we had to perform well early in the season," said coach Chris Willis. "We had the advantage of being at home for the first three weeks in conference, and we performed well for the most part and put ourselves in the driver's seat for a spot in the conference tournament. Now we have to take our game on the road and seal the deal. The women are excited and focused. I'm looking forward to seeing them perform well."

Davidson is coming off a 3-1 win over George Mason on Sunday, which was Senior Day, and has won two of its last three.

RODRIGUEZ SHINES
Sophomore outside hitter Hattie Rodriguez turned in a stellar weekend, which resulted in a career-high in kills and her first A-10 Player of the Week honor.
Â
Rodriguez had 22 kills against George Washington, then added 17 against George Mason. She hit .333 for the weekend with 4.88 kills per set.
Â
Rodriguez, of Charlotte, ranks sixth in the A-10 with 3.28 kills per set.

LEAGUE LEADERS
Junior middle blocker Ellie Crosley ranks first in the A-10 with a .393 hitting percentage, while freshman middle blocker Madeline Wynn is fourth (.344) and also third with 1.19 blocks per set.

Junior setter Sydney Champaigne's 9.52 assists per set rank third in the league.
