DAYTON, OHIO - Davidson dropped its opening match in conference play against the Dayton Flyers on Friday night. The Wildcats fell in four sets (29-27, 15-25, 22-25, 16-25). Despite the loss, Ariyana Johnson recorded 16 kills with a .583 hitting percentage.

The 'Cats opened up the match with an epic first-set victory by a score of 29-27. Ellie Ocampo recorded a service ace to cap off the frame. Davidson posted an impressive .349 hitting percentage in the first set.

After the Flyers grabbed the second set 25-15, Davidson and Dayton were tied, 22-22, in the third set. The Flyers got three straight points off kills from Kaleigh Meritt, Kamryn Hunt, and Abigail Cresse to win the frame.

Dayton led the entire fourth set and won 25-16.

Brooke Briscoe led Davidson with 27 digs. Kinsey Smith led Davidson with 26 assists.

Seniors Melanie Tilles and Mia Compas combined for nine kills and zero errors.
