DAVIDSON, N.C. — It is the final week of regular season games for the Davidson women's soccer team as they wrap up their home schedule Thursday by hosting VCU before heading to New York to face off against Fordham Sunday in two key Atlantic 10 games.
The Matchup ...
Sitting in seventh place in the league standings, which right now positions them for a spot in the A-10 Tournament, the Wildcats (8-7-2, 3-4-1 A-10) will welcome the VCU Rams (8-6-2, 2-5-1 A-10) Thursday at 7 p.m. for its final home game before going to Bronx, N.Y., Sunday for a 1 p.m. game at Fordham (4-9-4, 3-3-2 A-10).
Game Promotions ...
Thursday's game will be "Pups at the Pitch Night" where fans can bring their dogs to the game. The first 100 fans who come will receive a FREE doggie waste bag dispenser.
Coach Denton's Thoughts on the Upcoming Game ...
"The game on Thursday vs. VCU is our last home conference game of this season, so we want to have a positive performance against a very good Rams team. It will be a tough a matchup, like all A-10 games have been and we will look to use the advantage of our home field. On Sunday, we make the long trip to Fordham to play another difficult opponent and venue. We played well on the road last weekend, but we were on the wrong side of the 1-0 losses conceding late goals in both games."
"We have two great opportunities to bounce back against, first with a home game. It is coming down the wire in our last two matchups, with qualification for the tournament still a possibility for the majority of teams in the conference. It's all very tight in the standings and we need to perform to the best of our ability in both games, embrace the challenges and enjoy the opportunities that are ahead of us in these two games. I know the group is looking forward to the games."
